Hiya! Landed in Dublin this morning around 10 till 6am. The nice thing about flying in early is breezing right through passport check and baggage claims as there’s not many people. After making sure my EE chip was working in my phone and my phone was charged.. Sat Nav on ones phone is fantastic for getting around on public transport! Mary Moriarty part of our Arizona Irish community had already sent me just how to get to my bed and breakfast so I just hopped on the correct bus and headed into the city center. Harvey‘s guest house is located just about 5-10 minutes from O’Connell bridge, they offered me a nice cup of tea and some toast before showing me up to my room. Originally the plan was to have a quick shower and then get ready and head down to Grafton St. to meet up with the Toronto Young ambassador before seeing some sights; well you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men..this often applies to us women to 😉 Ended up having a not so quick lie down..a few hours long nap! So the plan changed a bit, after I woke up I had a quick rinse off to get rid of the proverbial travel dust and help wake myself up fully. A quick walk over few streets and I was able to hop on the Luas (Dublin's tram/light rail) to St. Stephens Green and then walk over to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in time to attend Evensong. It was beautiful inside and the Cathedral Choir sounded amazing! Afterwords I spent some time in the green enjoying the wonderful weather and church bells. Stopped by St. Stephan’s green shopping center, it opened in the 1980’s on the site of the Dandelion market known as the site of U2’s earliest gigs.
On my way back to Temple bar I stopped by the Gaiety theatre 🎭 and then had dinner at a restaurant called Alfie’s on a recommendation from another theatre patron. To end my evening I happened upon an Irish music experience at Hely’s bar, I learned some basics of playing the Bodhran (which is a tradition Irish drum) and met a very nice Welsh family on holiday. Then back to my B&B after an exciting day to get some sleep!
